The recipe of the popular soft drink called Pepsi, which made the company famous, was created as early as the 1890s by Caleb Bradham, an American pharmacist. At first, the drink was used for the improvement of digestion. The drink was becoming more and more popular, resulting into the establishment of the Pepsi-Cola Company in 1902. One year later, Bradham recorded a patent for his recipe of success. PepsiCo, Inc. was created in 1965 as a result of the merger of Pepsi-Cola and Frito-Lay.
